Ça donne envie de partir, sac au dos, demain matin. En ville, entre deux séances de fans de jeunes pop-stars en pâmoison devant leurs idoles chromées, on a droit aux performances de Rob Pongi (allusion au célèbre quartier des bars pour les étrangers de Tokyo), la plupart complètement insignifiantes, sauf lorsqu’il lit une après l’autre les annonces de jeunes Japonaises à la recherche d’amis étrangers, dans un anglais tellement approximatif que ça devient vraiment tordant. Vous vous trouviez poche en anglais ? Attendez d’aller au Japon ! Ou à défaut, allez jeter un coup d’œil aux personal adds de Mr. Pongi. Si ça ne change pas votre fantasme de la jolie et douce Japonaise, ça va peut-être vous enlever de la tête l’image de sa grande spiritualité intérieure... Ou du moins vous faire rigoler un coup ! ● Enjoying the happiness (2005-11-29) I've been sifting through the video at archive.org, and rediscovered the Rob Pongi video-clips enjoyment; his site seemed to have been down forever, but it's back now. Hooray! I was surprised to discover how much I've missed the personals readings, the ringtone swaying and Miss Emi. I also like the Mozart clip and this funny little kid, and the "Fucking USA" video still disturbs yet rocks. Especially the ringtone swaying; it's more relaxing to watch than tropical fish. - by Milo George

Such a performance like this is so rare that its hardly ever seen by anyone, even on Japanese TV.

This is a still frame that was taken in Tokyo in April 2005 during the filming of an interview of Rob Pongi for Swedish National TV. This interview was filmed for a documentary on "Entertainers in Japan" which is now in post production. This documentary is expected to be nationally televised in Sweden in September. Also, this same picture was used by Rolling Stone Magazine in a short article on RobPongi.com in Issue #977/978 June 30th-July 14th 2005. We stopped by a resale shop. I haven’t posted this here, but I decided I wanted to go as Rob Pongi for halloween. The first step in being Rob Pongi is to get the cool jacket. I found one. It cost me 4 bucks. I need to get it himmed a tad in the shoulders, but other than that, it is pimptastic.
